WANA (May 11) – In a pointed social media statement, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei utilized a significant historical milestone to send a diplomatic message to global powers.

Baghaei referenced the Battle of Carrhae in 53 BC, where the Parthian General Surena achieved a “masterful asymmetric victory” over the heavily armored Roman legions despite having far fewer men and resources.

Baghaei noted that the defeat and death of Crassus, one of Rome’s most powerful figures, effectively shattered the myth of Roman invincibility and halted their eastward expansion. He asserted that throughout history, Iranians have stood honorably against both single invaders and powerful coalitions.

The statement concluded with a stark warning that history repeats itself for those who refuse to study or respect its lessons. The remarks are widely viewed as a reflection of Iran’s current strategic stance, emphasizing its readiness to utilize asymmetric capabilities against contemporary adversaries.
