Iranian, Russian Presidents Phone Call on Israeli Attacks
WANA (Jun 13) – In a phone conversation on Friday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told Russian President Vladimir Putin that the Israeli regime’s aggressions constitute a clear violation of international law and will be met with an appropriate response.
President Putin, in the call, condemned the Israeli strikes on Iran and extended condolences over the deaths of Iranian civilians, nuclear scientists, and military officials. He expressed solidarity with the Iranian government and people.
Putin added that he had conveyed Russia’s concerns over the attacks to Israeli officials, stating: “These aggressions are a blatant violation of international rules and law.” He also noted that Russia is prepared to mediate efforts to de-escalate tensions.
President Pezeshkian thanked Putin for his call and expression of sympathy, and said the Israeli regime had sought to escalate tensions in the region from the very beginning of the new Iranian administration — referring to the assassination of a guest of Iran, martyr Haniyeh, as a provocative act.
Reiterating Iran’s consistent stance, Pezeshkian added that the Islamic Republic has never pursued nuclear weapons and remains ready to provide assurances in this regard to international legal authorities.
