WANA (Jul 19) – Iranian student teams have secured a major academic victory on the global stage, bringing home multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals from the 2026 International Economics, Biology and Chemistry Olympiads.

 

The Iranian National Biology Olympiad team achieved a stellar performance at the 37th International Biology Olympiad (IBO 2026), held from July 12 to 19, 2026, in Vilnius, Lithuania. The four-member team successfully clinched three gold medals and one silver medal.

 

Simultaneously, the Iranian National Chemistry Olympiad team delivered a strong performance at the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO 2026) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Competing against more than 350 students from 90 countries between July 10 and 19, 2026, the Iranian squad secured three silver medals and one bronze medal.

 

The 9th International Economics Olympiad (IEO 2026) also concluded in Shenzhen, China, with Iran’s national team securing one silver and three bronze medals.

 

The scientific event, held from July 12 to 20, 2026, featured over 270 participants from 54 countries. Among the Iranian competitors, Mobin Karimi Dizcheh won the silver medal, while Alireza Atashi, Mohammad Hossein Rahiminejad, and Ehsan Zolfaghari earned the three bronze medals for the country.

 

These achievements, earned in intense competition against hundreds of the world’s brightest young minds, showcase the scientific capabilities, talent, and dedication of Iranian students, reflecting the ongoing support of the country’s academic community.
