Iranian Students Win 9 Medals at Science & Invention Events
WANA (Aug 10) – Iranian student inventors have achieved remarkable success on the global stage, winning a total of nine medals at two major international science and invention competitions, according to Mehdi Rashidi Jahan, head of the Iranian student scientific teams.
The medals were secured at the 2025 Russian International Science Fair for Teenagers and the 2025 Korea International Invention and Innovation Olympiad.
Rashidi Jahan described the Russian event as one of the world’s most prestigious scientific gatherings, aimed at advancing science education, identifying young talent, and fostering international exchange.
Organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Yakutia with support from leading Russian universities and research bodies, the latest edition was held on July 7, featuring 129 teams from 10 countries.
Iran’s representatives excelled in multiple categories, earning six top rankings:
Computer Science & IT:
- 2nd Place: Artin Salari & Amirabbas Kavousi-Amin – “Smart Glasses for the Blind with Real-Time Object Detection”
- 3rd Place: Ilya Majidzadeh & Parsa Karimi – “CommuniMate: An App to Improve Communication for the Hearing-Impaired”
Engineering:
- 1st Place: Mehran Rajabi & Alireza Jafarnejad – “EcoNet Smart Trash Bin using AI and IoT”
- 2nd Place: Moeid Rajabi & Helena Rajabi – “Smart Safety System for Children using IoT and Image Processing”
- 3rd Place: Artin Radmatin, Baran Bahman, Mohammad Hossein Ezzati, Niki Abtahi, Sarina Nosrati & Baran Derakhshandeh Daryasari – “Enhancing Mechanical Systems with Magnetic Gears”
Biomedical Sciences:
- 1st Place: Mohammad Hossein Rahmani & Taha Kanani (Shahid Babaei National Organization for Development of Exceptional Talents) – “Rapid, Solvent-Free Synthesis of Pharmaceutical Compounds using a Novel Silica-Aluminum Catalyst”
The 2025 Korea International Invention and Innovation Olympiad, held from July 17–19 at Seoul National University, also brought Iranian teams into the spotlight.
Known as one of the most respected global innovation events, it attracts hundreds of teams annually from around the world, offering young inventors, researchers, and innovative companies a platform to present their ideas, exchange expertise, and foster global collaboration.
