Iranian Teams Compete in Teknofest Robotics
WANA (Sep 21) – Iranian teams are participating in the inventions category of the 2025 Teknofest Robotics Competition in Turkey, presenting their latest innovations in the field of medical technology.
Teknofest, one of the world’s largest technology, aviation, and robotics festivals, is held annually across various Turkish cities with the aim of promoting innovation and advancing national technologies. The event is organized by the Turkish Technology Team Foundation (T3) and the country’s Ministry of Industry and Technology.
Featuring more than 40 main categories and 117 subfields, Teknofest competitions cover a wide range of disciplines, including robotics, aerospace, artificial intelligence, information technology, biotechnology, renewable energy, smart transportation, drone design, cybersecurity, and more.
Participants—from school students to graduates and entrepreneurs—compete for prizes and recognition, while the event also serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and international collaboration.
In recent years, Iranian teams have achieved multiple medals at Teknofest, including silver and bronze in the industry and health categories in 2023 by a team from the Islamic Azad University of Quchan. This year, teams from Iran are once again competing at Teknofest, scheduled for September 17–21, 2025.
Hadis Mirzania, head of a participating robotics team and CEO of a robotics technology company, told ISNA that Iranian teams have previously competed in global events in Malaysia, Turkey, India, and Canada, and had twice been invited to competitions in the United States but were unable to attend due to visa restrictions.
“Our teams have previously presented innovations in areas such as environment and agriculture—for example, the smart garden project,” Mirzania said. “This year, the focus of our inventions is in the medical sector, and we hope to achieve good results in Turkey.”
According to Mirzania, two Iranian teams will compete in the robotics inventions category alongside entries from more than 40 countries. She noted that judging in the inventions section is highly rigorous, with results announced gradually throughout the five-day event.
Unlike in previous years, when Iranian participants also entered categories such as robotic footballers and combat robots, this year their efforts will be concentrated solely on inventions.
Mirzania expressed hope that Iranian teams could secure top positions, which would earn them invitations to the upcoming London competitions.
