WANA (Apr 29) – In a dominant performance on Wednesday, Iran’s beach wrestling team secured four gold medals at the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China. Ali Akbar Zoroudi, Ali Gholami, Amirhossein Kavousi, and Amirreza Sahraei all finished atop the podium in their respective weight classes.

 

70 kg: Ali Akbar Zoroudi

Zoroudi opened his campaign with back-to-back 3–0 victories over representatives from Jordan and India. He continued his streak by defeating wrestlers from Qatar and Saudi Arabia to reach the semifinals. After shutting out his Kyrgyz opponent 2–0, Zoroudi faced India for the second time in the final, securing a 3–0 victory to claim the gold.

 

80 kg: Ali Gholami

Gholami displayed exceptional power, starting with a 5–0 pinfall victory over a wrestler from Yemen. He followed up with a 3–0 win over Tajikistan and a 4–0 win against Kyrgyzstan. In the quarterfinals, he defeated a representative from Bahrain 3–0 before pinning his Kazakh opponent 4–0 in the semifinals. Gholami clinched the gold by pinning his rival from Pakistan 3–0 in the final match.

 

90 kg: Amirhossein Kavousi

Kavousi marched to the final with a series of decisive wins, including pinfalls against opponents from Sri Lanka and Bahrain. He recorded 3–0 victories over wrestlers from Vietnam, Singapore, and India to reach the semifinals, where he defeated the host nation’s representative from China 3–0. In the gold medal match, Kavousi shut out his rival from Pakistan 3–0.

 

+90 kg: Amirreza Sahraei

In the heavyweight division, Sahraei secured 3–0 victories over wrestlers from Syria, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. After defeating his Saudi Arabian opponent 3–0 in the quarterfinals, he delivered a stunning 5–0 pinfall against a world-class medalist from Bahrain in the semifinals. Sahraei finished his campaign by defeating China 3–0 in the final to take home the gold.
