Iranian Youth Muay Thai Team Wins 2 Gold and 3 Bronze at World Championships
WANA (Sep 19) – Iran’s youth Muay Thai team concluded their campaign at the 2025 World Championships in Abu Dhabi with a total of 5 medals: 2 gold and 3 bronze.
The Iranian team, accompanied by Javad Nasiri, President of Iran’s Muay Thai Association, ended the competition on a high note with these achievements.
In the fighting category, Zahra Khamarzadeh lost to her Vietnamese opponent in the semifinals, securing a bronze medal. Similarly, Abolfazl Soltani was defeated by the host nation’s representative in the semifinals, earning Iran’s third bronze. Earlier, Mahna Alijanzadeh had already secured a bronze by reaching the top four.
Thus, the Iranian national team finished the championships with 2 gold medals in Wai Kru, won by Romina Dashti and Saba Heshmati, and 3 bronze medals in fighting by Mahna Alijanzadeh, Zahra Khamarzadeh, and Abolfazl Soltani.
The team was coached by Shahsanam Sedighi (Wai Kru coach), Ali Paketegad, and Mastaneh Seifabadi (fighting coaches).
Additionally, three Iranian international referees—Abdolhalim Barazandeh, Farshid Karimi, and Arezu Maghdouri—played key roles in officiating the competitions.
The tournament, which began on September 10 with 1,200 Muay Thai athletes from 100 countries, concluded today with the final matches.
