WANA (May 27) – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Saeed Khatibzadeh, announced plans for an official visit by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Armenia, signaling a new phase in bilateral cooperation between the two neighbors.

Speaking at a press conference on the sidelines of the “Yerevan Conversations 2025” international conference, Khatibzadeh emphasized Tehran’s commitment to enhancing high-level diplomatic engagement with Yerevan.

“The political consultations between our capitals are ongoing, and economic relations are currently at a high level,” he said. “We are actively preparing for the president’s visit to Yerevan.”

Khatibzadeh highlighted the advanced state of Armenia-Iran relations and noted that five official delegations from Iran are expected to visit Armenia this week alone. He also referred to the recent visit of Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council, to Tehran as part of ongoing political dialogue.

Khatibzadeh expressed optimism about expanding economic cooperation following the implementation of zero-tariff transport agreements. “Economic collaboration is set to accelerate rapidly with the enforcement of zero customs tariffs on transportation,” he stated.

He also pointed to fruitful cooperation in high-tech sectors and underscored the growing ties in tourism, cultural exchange, and people-to-people contacts.

Looking ahead, Khatibzadeh voiced hope for broader regional cooperation once key obstacles are removed—particularly with the anticipated signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“Once certain barriers are lifted, especially after a peace agreement is signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan, we hope to implement many projects that have so far remained unrealized,” he said.

Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan also announced that Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, is expected to visit Yerevan. Mirzoyan made the statement while reviewing the government budget report in parliament.
