Iran’s 2026 World Cup Hotel Confirmed in LA Amid Visa Hurdle
WANA (Jun 13) – The official hotel for the Iranian national football team during their stay in Los Angeles for the 2026 World Cup has been finalized.
Iran’s national team is scheduled to face New Zealand in their opening Group Stage match of the 2026 World Cup at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The match will kick off at 4:30 AM Tehran time on Tuesday, June 16.
Amir Ghalenoei’s squad is currently training in Tijuana, Mexico, and will travel to Los Angeles just one day prior to the match.
Visa Issues Prompt Administrative Adjustments
According to reports, the United States has not yet issued visas for several key members of the delegation, including Team Manager Mehdi Mohammad Nabi and Executive Manager Mehdi Kharati. Consequently, Hooman Afazeli, coach and technical staff advisor, has traveled ahead to Los Angeles to handle logistics and coordination.

FIFA has designated the Westdrift Hotel as Iran’s official base in Los Angeles. Afazeli is scheduled to inspect the premises on behalf of the Iranian delegation.
