Iran’s Abolfazl Zandi Tops World Taekwondo Rankings
WANA (Nov 08) – The World Taekwondo Federation has released its latest Olympic rankings, showing major changes for Iranian athletes, with Abolfazl Zandi climbing to first place in the global standings.
According to the World Taekwondo Federation’s official website, the November rankings were updated based on results from the World Championships held in China, bringing several shifts in both men’s and women’s divisions. Three Iranian medalists from the tournament saw significant improvements in their rankings.
In the men’s -58 kg category, Abolfazl Zandi, after winning gold at the World Championships in China, secured the No. 1 spot globally with 170.80 points, and also rose to fourth place in the Olympic rankings with the same score. Mehdi Hajimousaei, world silver medalist, jumped 57 places to reach 10th with 116 points, while Mehdi Razmian ranked 14th with 97.62 points.
In the -68 kg division, Mohammad Sadegh Dehghani stood at 80th with 33.97 points.
In the -80 kg class, Amirsina Bakhtiari, bronze medalist at the World Championships, climbed 17 places to 8th with 97.60 points, while Mehran Barkhordari rose one spot to 12th with 92.40 points.
In the +80 kg category, Arian Salimi maintained 7th place with 121.17 points, and Mohammad Hossein Yazdani advanced 10 spots to 15th with 77.44 points.
Among women, Saeedeh Nasiri in the -49 kg class earned 69.17 points, rising six places to 28th, while Mahla Momenzadeh jumped 19 spots to 62nd with 45.62 points.
In the -57 kg category, Nahid Kiani ranked 13th with 91.25 points, Mobina Nemat Zadeh moved up four places to 27th with 65.33 points, and Kosar Asaseh surged 83 places to 91st with 23.68 points.
In the -67 kg division, Melika Mirhosseini advanced 12 places to 42nd with 45.65 points.
