Iran’s Advanced System Shatters Narrative of ‘Open’ Airspace, Raises Threat to U.S. and Israeli Jets
WANA (Mar 26) – Al Jazeera has reported that Iran may have obtained a new weapon and defense system capable of targeting Israeli and American aircraft.
Ali Hashem, senior correspondent for Al Jazeera English, expressed surprise over what he described as the repeated targeting of U.S. and Israeli aircraft by Iran’s domestically developed air defense systems.
“It appears the Iranians have something they are using—there is talk of a new system and weapon,” Hashem said. “We have seen Iran target F-35, F-18, F-16, and F-15 aircraft in the skies.”

He added that the exact nature of this weapon or system remains unclear.
“We do not know what this weapon is; we do not know what this system is,” he said. “However, the key point is that the narrative formed over the past three weeks—that Iran’s airspace was completely open—now appears to be challenged. It seems the Iranians are capable of targeting Israeli and American aircraft.”
