Iran’s Ambassador In Geneva Calls For Global Condemnation Of Aggression
WANA (Mar 02) – Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, speaking today, Monday, 2 March 2026, during the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, called for global condemnation of the aggression against Iran’s territory.
Ali Bahraini, in a statement expressing deep regret over the scale of the criminal attacks over the past two days, said that numerous civilians and civilian facilities—including schools and hospitals—had been targeted. He noted that in just one of these attacks on a girls’ school in Minab, 170 innocent and defenceless students were killed.
Referring directly to the recent global update by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, he recalled that the High Commissioner had stated in his report that “the world has been turned upside down” and had raised fundamental questions about the nature and evolution of power in the international system.
Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva also emphasised that current developments—particularly the use of force and the killing of civilians—constitute a concrete answer to those questions and demonstrate how certain powers, by violating the principles of the UN Charter, have replaced the rule of law with the logic of raw power.
Bahraini stressed that human rights violations can never be considered a sign of strength, and that legitimacy in the international system derives solely from adherence to international law, respect for state sovereignty, and the protection of civilians.
In conclusion, Iran’s ambassador called on the international community and UN officials to condemn these actions decisively and without ambiguity, and to take measures to safeguard international peace and security.
Joint military attacks by the United States and the Israeli regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran began at dawn on 28 February 2026. This occurred while indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, mediated by several regional countries, were underway.
According to political observers, this simultaneity reflects Washington’s dual and contradictory approach toward diplomacy and international commitments—an approach previously seen in various cases, including the JCPOA.
Analysts believe the action demonstrated that the United States does not, in practice, adhere to the principles of dialogue, confidence-building, and the peaceful resolution of disputes, and continues to use military force as a tool of political pressure—an approach that has intensified mistrust and increased regional tensions.
Decisive Response Of The Islamic Republic Of Iran To The Attacks By The United States And The Israeli Regime
Following the start of the joint military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime, the Islamic Republic of Iran delivered a decisive, targeted, and proportionate response.
Within the framework of this legitimate response, military and security positions of the Israeli regime in various cities of occupied Palestine, as well as bases and deployment centres of U.S. forces in the region, were precisely targeted by missiles, drones, and aerial strikes.
Official authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran have emphasised that these operations were conducted within the inherent right of self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter, with the aim of deterrence, preventing the continuation of aggression, and imposing costs on the aggressors. Iran has warned that any continuation or expansion of aggression will be met with a stronger and more extensive response.
