Iran’s Ambassador to Iraq: We Respect the Will of the Iraqi People
WANA (Nov 11) – Iran’s Ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Ale-Sadeq, emphasized Tehran’s respect for the outcome of Iraq’s parliamentary elections as the country holds its sixth legislative vote.
Speaking in an interview, Ale-Sadeq noted that the elections are particularly significant, as they will shape Iraq’s future leadership, including the president, the speaker of parliament, and the prime minister.
He stated that the voting process has so far proceeded smoothly, expressing hope that strong voter participation will lead to a positive outcome for the Iraqi nation.
“According to opinion polls, turnout in this election appears to be higher than in the previous round,” Ale-Sadeq said. He added that Iran hopes the formation of Iraq’s new government will take place within the legally designated timeframe after results are announced.
“We respect the vote of the Iraqi people, and whatever they choose will be recognized and respected by us,” he affirmed.
The ambassador also highlighted the “deep and extensive” ties between Iran and Iraq, expressing hope that bilateral relations will continue to develop under the next Iraqi government.
