Iran’s Armed Forces Chief: Defense Buildup a Key to Iran’s Security
WANA (Aug 21) – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Seyed Abdolrahim Mousavi marked Iran’s Defense Industry Day with a message emphasizing that the only way to safeguard the country against current and future threats is through continued strengthening of defense capabilities, enhancement of deterrence, and modernization of military systems and weaponry.
In his message addressed to Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, Mousavi congratulated ministry officials, specialists, and defense industry workers, praising their achievements in recent years as a product of self-reliance, faith, and reliance on domestic capacities under the guidance of the Commander-in-Chief, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
He highlighted that some of the strategic impacts of Iran’s defense advancements have been demonstrated in what he called the “anti-Zionist and anti-American resistance.” Mousavi further pointed to global and regional developments, as well as lessons from the recent 12-day conflict involving the U.S. and Israel against Iran, as evidence that boosting defense power remains essential.
“The only way to immunize the country against foreseeable and emerging threats is to persist in the strategy of strengthening defense power, upgrading deterrence, and modernizing systems, equipment, and weapons in the fields of ground, naval, aerospace, air defense, cyber, and electronic warfare, using modern science and technology, and ensuring constant coordination and synergy between the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense,” he said.
The top commander expressed appreciation for the efforts of the defense ministry staff, praying for their continued success in strengthening Iran’s defense base and upholding the dignity and authority of the Islamic Republic under the guidance of the Supreme Leader.
