WANA (Aug 16) – The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Iran issued a firm warning to the United States and the Israeli regime to cease their conspiracies and malevolence against the powerful and invincible Iran.

 

The text of the statement by the General Staff of the Armed Forces on the occasion of the anniversary of the return of the freed captives of war, August 17, is as follows:

 

“On this glorious and momentous anniversary of August 17, the General Staff of the Armed Forces, while paying tribute to the lofty station of the exalted martyrs, commemorates the pride-inspiring return of the honorable freed captives of war to the embrace of the Islamic homeland.

 

This auspicious day is a reminder of the heroism and self-sacrifice of the valiant and unparalleled sons of this insightful, loyal, and heroic nation; those freed captives of war who, with their unique endurance and steadfastness in the face of the aggressor enemy, turned the chains of captivity into flaming embers of anger and the iron will of the Iranian nation, delivering an unforgettable lesson to the enemies of this land.

 

The glorious history of the Islamic Revolution, throughout its many twists and turns, has recorded countless golden pages of the unwavering faith and matchless zeal of Iranians in creating epics and honor-inspiring victories in various arenas.

 

This grandeur itself stands as a comprehensive lesson for all the leaders of wealth, force, and deceit in the system of global domination; for this heroic nation, under the wise, discerning, and courageous leadership, has proven that no power can speak in the language of force and threat in the face of its greatness.

 

Global arrogance, having failed to take heed from its successive defeats in the past, once again—after 46 years—has, in cooperation with the fake, savage, child-killing Zionist regime, its subservient agent and proxy force in the region, launched yet another aggression against Islamic Iran.

 

But as acknowledged by many experts, analysts, politicians, and commentators, the result of this vile conspiracy was nothing but a disgraceful defeat, humiliation, and shame for them.

 

The General Staff of the Armed Forces once again firmly warns the criminal and malicious America and the savage Zionist regime to abandon their conspiracies and wickedness against a powerful and invincible Iran.

 

For in the event of any miscalculation or satanic action that, in the imposed 12-day war, brought about restraint and prevented broad operations, if repeated, will be met with new surprises and with actions far more severe and crushing than before.”

 

On August 17, 1990, the Islamic Republic of Iran witnessed the arrival of the first group of freed captives of the 8-year war with Iraq, who, after years of captivity in the prisons and camps of the Ba’athist regime of Iraq, set foot on the Iranian soil.

 

The Headquarters for the Affairs of Freed captives, which had been established on August 13, 1990, undertook the exchange of about 50,000 freed captives with the same number of Iraqi captives, in coordination with other relevant bodies.
