WANA (Oct 03) – Iran’s Army has formally begun training volunteers who have registered under the “Janfada” initiative, a program that organizes citizens willing to receive military training and prepare for national defense, according to Iranian military officials.

Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Alian-Nejad, the Army’s deputy for training and education, said three Army training facilities in Tehran have been designated for the program and will be ready to begin training from Sunday.

The three facilities are the Imam Ali Officer Academy, Hazrat Javad al-Aimma Non-Commissioned Officers Training Center, and Shahid Shaban Commando Training Center. The schedule for receiving and training the volunteers will be announced by the relevant authorities.

Alian-Nejad also said personnel from the Army’s four branches would be deployed to several designated “field-garrison” sites to provide Janfada volunteers with basic military training. The initial training will be followed by more advanced courses.

He added that the Army is prepared to send military instructors to different parts of the country if needed to train the volunteers.

Alian-Nejad stressed that the mission had been formally assigned to the Army by the commander of the Iranian Army and that the force was fully prepared to carry it out.
