Iran’s Beach Kabaddi Team Clinches Gold with Victory Over India
WANA (Apr 27) – Iran’s national beach kabaddi team secured the gold medal at the Sanya Asian Beach Games on Monday after a decisive victory over India in the final match.
The Iranian squad defeated India with a score of 44–31 to claim the championship. This victory marks Iran’s third gold medal in the current Asian Beach Games, following an earlier gold medal won by Hassan Ajami in track and field.
Path to the Podium
Iran reached the final after a dominant run in the tournament. During the group stage, the team secured three consecutive victories, defeating Pakistan 38–28, Bangladesh 47–31, and Syria 53–30. In the semi-final round, Iran moved past Sri Lanka with a 42–29 win to earn their spot in the gold medal match.
Team Composition and Management
The Iranian roster for this sixth edition of the games consists of players Mohammad Malak, Moslem Rashki, Ali Sourtchi, Mobin Nazari, Amirhossein Alizadeh, and Mahan Faraji. The coaching and support staff includes Farhad Kamal Gharibi as head coach and Mohsen Valourian as team supervisor.
