WANA (Jul 20) – Rear Admiral Mahmoud Mousavi, Deputy for Operations of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, stated that Iran successfully secured its national airspace during the recent 12-day war, using both existing and newly deployed air defense systems.

 

“In this imposed war, the Zionist enemy’s initial action was to target our radar and air defense systems,” Rear Admiral Mousavi said in an interview, referring to the recent military conflict. “Our comrades in the Army’s Air Defense Force remained at their posts around the clock and actively confronted the enemy.”

 

Highlighting the crimes committed by the Israeli regime during the conflict, he added: “The criminal Zionist regime launched a cowardly and aggressive attack on Iranian territory in pursuit of specific goals.”

 

The Deputy for Operations emphasized Iran’s air defense capabilities, noting: “The Zionist enemy aimed to destroy Iran’s defense capabilities. Some of our air defense systems were damaged during the war, but with the efforts of our comrades, those systems were quickly replaced and deployed at pre-designated locations.”

He continued: “We managed to cover the country’s airspace and secure the sacred air borders of our dear Iran using both the existing systems and newly introduced ones. Despite their desperate efforts, the enemy failed to achieve its goals.”

 

Admiral Mousavi emphasized that the Zionist enemy did not act alone in the war, stating: “The Zionist regime was assisted by the United States and NATO. The capabilities of Iran’s armed forces are far beyond what this illegitimate regime can confront. However, the regime’s backers helped it months in advance by collecting intelligence. We consider the United States complicit in the Zionist regime’s crimes.”

 

He added: “The Iranian nation, standing alongside its armed forces, showed once again that their unity is unbreakable. Just as they did during the eight years of Sacred Defense, they demonstrated in this war that no enemy can prevail against Iran.”

The Israeli regime launched an attack on Iran in the early hours of Friday, June 13, 2025, resulting in the martyrdom of several commanders, scientists, and innocent civilians.

 

However, with a crushing response from Iran’s armed forces, the 12-day war ended with extensive damage inflicted on military, urban, economic, and security infrastructure in the occupied territories and the eventual imposition of a ceasefire on the enemy.

 

On this occasion, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Iran’s Supreme Leader, congratulated the Iranian people on their victory over the Zionist enemy and stated:

 

“The fake Zionist regime, despite all its noise and claims, was nearly crushed and annihilated under the blows of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
