Iran’s Embassy in Tokyo Responds to UK–Japan Defense Ministers’ Joint Statement
WANA (Aug 30) – The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tokyo dismissed the allegations made in a joint statement by the UK and Japanese defense ministers as baseless and strongly condemned them.
The Iranian Embassy in Japan issued its reaction on Friday to the statement, which reiterated claims about Iran’s alleged support for Russia in the war against Ukraine—an accusation that Iranian officials have consistently and firmly rejected.
In its statement, the embassy said: “The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the unfounded accusations made in the joint statement of the UK and Japanese defense ministers in 2025 against Iran. Iran once again firmly rejects any claim of involvement in the Russia–Ukraine conflict and urges both sides to resolve their differences through peaceful means.”
The statement further stressed: “Iran calls on Western countries that have fueled this crisis to cease their unlawful interventions and, instead of blaming others, work toward peace.”
