Iran’s First VP: “Security of the Strait of Hormuz Is Not Free”
WANA (Apr 20) – Mohammad Reza Aref, Iran’s First Vice President, issued a stern warning regarding the security of the Strait of Hormuz, linking the stability of the vital waterway directly to the removal of economic and military pressure on Iran.
Writing on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, Aref stated that global energy stability is contingent upon a “guaranteed and lasting end” to the pressures against Iran and its allies.
The Link Between Exports and Security
The Vice President criticized the current international approach to Iranian oil, asserting that security cannot be a one-way street. “The security of the Strait of Hormuz is not free,” Aref wrote. “One cannot restrict Iran’s oil exports while expecting free security for others.”
A Choice for the Global Oil Market
Aref framed the current situation as a binary choice for the international community, warning of potential repercussions for the global economy if sanctions persist.
The Choice: Either a free oil market for all nations or the risk of “significant costs for everyone.”
The Requirement: Stability in global fuel prices depends on a cessation of the ongoing economic and military campaigns against Tehran.
