Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hints at U.S. Historical Missteps
WANA (May 06) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs took an indirect swipe at the United States’ past mistakes by sharing an excerpt from “The March of Folly.”
Baghaei wrote: “Stubbornness is the source of self-deception and plays a major role in governance. It means assessing circumstances based on fixed, preconceived notions, ignoring or dismissing contradictory signs and evidence, and acting in line with one’s wishes rather than accepting realities.”
The March of Folly is a book that examines several well-known events in world history, focusing on the mistakes of rulers in those episodes, including the United States’ war in Vietnam.
