WANA (Oct 06) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement regarding the proposed Gaza ceasefire plan put forward by U.S. President Donald Trump, stressing that any decision in this regard lies solely within the authority of the Palestinian people and resistance groups.

The statement read: “While taking into account the dangerous dimensions and implications of this plan, and once again warning against the repeated breaches and obstructionism of the Israeli regime in fulfilling its commitments, the Islamic Republic of Iran considers any decision on this matter to be the right of the Palestinian people and resistance.”

Referring to the international community’s “legal and moral responsibility to confront the ongoing genocide in Gaza under the 1948 UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide,” the ministry reaffirmed Iran’s consistent support for any initiative aimed at ending ethnic cleansing, war crimes, and crimes against humanity in Gaza — and at ensuring the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

The statement added that Iran will welcome any decision by the Palestinian people and resistance that ensures “the cessation of the genocide against Palestinians, the withdrawal of Israeli occupying forces from Gaza, respect for the Palestinian right to self-determination, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the reconstruction of Gaza.”

It further emphasized that halting the ongoing crimes in Gaza does not exempt governments and international bodies from their duty to pursue legal and judicial action against “those responsible for war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza,” with the aim of ending Israel’s decades-long impunity.

The statement concluded by expressing Iran’s readiness to participate in the immediate delivery of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza.
