WANA (Apr 11) – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that the level of the Iranian delegation participating in the Islamabad talks demonstrates Iran’s seriousness, adding that the country is seriously prepared for any scenario.

A Shift in Negotiations

Responding to questions, Gharibabadi explained that this round of talks differs fundamentally from previous sessions. He emphasized that these meetings are not merely for negotiation, but for the pursuit of demands.

“This round of negotiations is not simply a negotiation; it is a demand,” Gharibabadi said. “In fact, Iran has a long list of demands.”

He noted that with the seriousness of the delegation, Iran’s military “upper hand,” and the established national unity, the country aims to advance its rightful demands.

Readiness for Defense or Diplomacy

The senior diplomat highlighted the high rank of the delegation members as proof of Iran’s commitment. He noted that the delegation is headed by the chief of one of the three branches of government.

“Iran is seriously prepared for any scenario,” he remarked. “If the scenario is the defense of the country, we are completely serious.

Regarding the matter of negotiation, we are also serious and have participated at the highest level.”

Strategic Advantages

Gharibabadi further detailed the differences between this round and previous ones, citing military achievements and strategic leverage.

Military Standing: He asserted that Iran enters the talks with the “upper hand” due to victories in the war, stating that the Americans failed to achieve their goals.

Geopolitical Leverage: He specifically pointed to Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz as a key factor.

He concluded by stating that while there are various differences in this round of talks compared to the past, the two most prominent are Iran’s military advantage and the transition from dialogue to a list of specific demands.
