Iran’s Late Leader Laid to Rest Beside Imam Reza Shrine
WANA (Jul 10) – The body of Iran’s late leader, Grand Ayatollah Seyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, has been laid to rest at the Shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad.
His body was buried in the Dar al-Dhikr portico beside the shrine following funeral and farewell ceremonies held in Tehran, Qom, Najaf, Karbala, and Mashhad.
The burial ceremony was attended by members of his family, government officials, custodians of the Imam Reza shrine, and a number of supporters.
The recitation of the Talqin (Islamic burial supplication) was broadcast during the burial ceremony.
Farewell ceremonies were held over three days in Tehran and for one day each in Qom, Najaf, Karbala, and Mashhad.
According to official sources, taking into account repeated attendance in different cities, the ceremonies drew an estimated 41 to 43 million participants.
According to the report, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei was assassinated in a direct strike on the first day of the large-scale attacks by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran on February 28, 2026.
Officials overseeing the funeral ceremonies also announced that the bodies of the late members of the late leader’s family were buried alongside him.
