WANA (Jul 06) – The head of the headquarters overseeing the farewell, funeral prayer, and burial ceremonies for Iran’s late leader in Tehran announced that the body of the late leader of the Islamic Revolution will once again be flown by helicopter over the funeral procession route at the conclusion of the ceremony.

 

Brigadier General Hassanzadeh urged mourners attending the funeral to remain along the procession route, saying that the body of the late leader would be flown over the route again by helicopter at the end of the ceremony.

 

He explained that organizers had originally planned for the funeral procession to enter the route from Imam Hossein Square, but that this was ultimately not possible.

 

Rejecting rumors of any change to the funeral route, Hassanzadeh stressed that the procession would follow its original planned course, moving from eastern to western Tehran.

 

He said that large crowds had gathered in the eastern parts of the capital since the early hours of the morning and called on mourners to remain calm while moving toward the western sections of the route.

 

He added that wherever the bodies entered the procession route, the majority of the crowd would continue accompanying the ceremony. He also asked those already positioned at the front of the route to remain where they were so that the vehicles carrying the bodies could reach them.

 

Hassanzadeh further stated that organizers had planned for the ceremony to last between 10 and 12 hours, emphasizing that there was no need to rush its conclusion.

 

He said the procession vehicles would move slowly and in accordance with crowd conditions to ensure that all mourners who had traveled from Tehran and across Iran would have the opportunity to participate in the farewell procession and accompany the body of the late leader.
