WANA (Oct 01) – Mehdi Fazeli, a member of the office responsible for preserving and publishing the works of Iran’s Leader, said Iran’s armed forces are prepared for a range of possible scenarios, including a prolonged war or a sudden military operation, adding that the Leader and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has issued the necessary orders for such circumstances.

Speaking about recent security developments and the possibility of escalating tensions, Fazeli said Iran’s armed forces have prepared for various scenarios. He added that the country’s military leadership has developed plans to address different contingencies and warned that any new military action against Iran would make the situation considerably more difficult for the country’s adversaries.

Fazeli also emphasized the importance of **social cohesion** under wartime conditions, describing unity as an important component of national power. He said internal divisions and political polarization could increase the country’s vulnerabilities, arguing that signs of internal discord could be taken into account by Iran’s adversaries in their calculations.

He also stressed the importance of using both military capabilities and diplomacy to safeguard Iran’s national interests and security. According to Fazeli, Iran should continue to use negotiations as a diplomatic tool while remaining aware of the interests and objectives of the other side.

Addressing Iran’s defense capabilities, Fazeli said the country’s military strength is the result of decades of investment in domestic capabilities and self-reliance. He said efforts to develop indigenous defense capabilities began in the early years of the Islamic Republic and continued throughout the Iran-Iraq War and subsequent decades.

Fazeli said the emphasis on developing domestic capabilities in areas including missiles and drones had played a role in building Iran’s current defense capabilities.

He further claimed that Iran had used only part of its available military capabilities during the recent conflict and that its armed forces continue to upgrade their capabilities. He also pointed to Iran’s air defense and missile capabilities, saying Iranian forces had managed to strike some military equipment belonging to the opposing side during the recent fighting.

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Fazeli said Iran’s naval forces are prepared to defend the strategic waterway and would not allow an adversary to unilaterally block or control it.

Fazeli also described recent developments as part of broader changes in the international order, arguing that the system established after World War II is undergoing transformation and that Iran is seeking to consolidate its position in the emerging global balance of power.

Asked about the prospects for an end to the conflict, Fazeli said predicting international developments is difficult and that unexpected events could alter existing calculations. He nevertheless stressed that Iran’s armed forces are prepared for a range of scenarios, from a prolonged conflict to a sudden military operation.

He said that, based on statements by Iranian military commanders and the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, the armed forces have plans for various contingencies, while Iran’s Leader has issued the necessary orders for such scenarios.

Fazeli concluded by warning that any new military action against Iran, would be met with a stronger response.
