Iran’s Leadership Selection Process Enters Final Stages
WANA (Mar 04) – Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Khatami, a member of the Assembly of Experts, announced that the leadership options have been identified and that the process of choosing a new leader is approaching its final phase.
He stressed that the selection will take place “at the earliest possible opportunity” and in accordance with legal mechanisms, but noted that the country’s current wartime conditions differ from previous historical periods, making prudence and caution even more essential.
According to Khatami, after failing to strike at the institution of leadership, Iran’s adversaries have turned to a second objective: weakening and undermining the Assembly of Experts. He added, “Affairs must be managed with intelligence so that this legal body remains protected from political and media-related harm.”
Referring to the country’s future outlook, this member of the Assembly of Experts expressed confidence that the path ahead remains clear, emphasizing that despite the pressures and costs imposed by resistance under wartime conditions, the course of progress will continue.
He added that war is inherently costly, but that dignified resistance is a cost which, in his view, will ultimately prove worthwhile.
Khatami also noted that at present the country is being administered without disruption and that decision-making processes are continuing within established frameworks.
According to him, “There has been no problem in the realm of leadership, and the country is being managed in an orderly manner; nevertheless, wartime conditions require that the final announcement be made carefully and at the appropriate time.”
