WANA (Mar 23) – Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Vienna stated that the actions of aggressors constitute a clear and serious violation of fundamental principles of international law.

In a statement, the mission reacted to threats by the U.S. president to target Iran’s energy infrastructure. It said that U.S. officials have openly threatened to attack a nuclear power plant, calling it a grave and fundamental breach of international norms that prohibit any attack on nuclear facilities.

The statement warned that such an action, if carried out, would have destructive and long-lasting negative effects on human life and the environment across the Persian Gulf region and beyond.

It urged the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to swiftly condemn these threats and remind the United States of the catastrophic consequences of such dangerous actions.

The Iranian mission further emphasized that all actions by aggressors represent a clear and serious violation of the basic principles of international law and the laws of war.

It added that these actions entail full international responsibility, with the perpetrators accountable for all direct and indirect consequences, both within and beyond the Persian Gulf region.
