Iran’s National Football Team Rebukes Trump’s World Cup Security Warning
WANA (Mar 13) – Iran’s official national football team Instagram account responded sharply to recent remarks by Donald Trump questioning the safety of Iranian players at the FIFA World Cup. The team emphasized that no country can prevent Iran from participating in the global competition.
Trump had stated that the Iran national soccer team is welcome at the World Cup but suggested it might not be “appropriate for their own life and safety.” In response, Iran’s official account stressed that the World Cup is a historic, international event organized by FIFA, not by any single nation, and highlighted that Iran secured its place through consecutive victories, becoming one of the first teams to qualify.
The statement asserted that no one can exclude Iran from the tournament and added that a country should be held accountable if it carries only the title of “host” but cannot ensure the safety of participating teams.
