WANA (Sep 02) – Iran recorded 76.5 million tons of non-oil trade worth $43.94 billion during the first five months of the current Iranian year, according to Faroud Asgari, Deputy Minister of Economy and Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

 

Asgari announced that non-oil exports stood at 61.3 million tons, valued at $20.9 billion, while imports amounted to 15.2 million tons, worth $23 billion.

 

He noted that non-oil exports saw a slight increase of 0.07% in volume but a 6% decline in value compared with the same period last year. Imports, meanwhile, dropped by 5.4% in volume and 16.3% in value.

 

According to Asgari, petrochemical exports reached 21.8 million tons, valued at $8.63 billion, marking a 12% decrease in weight and a 13% decrease in value. Iran’s major export commodities included natural gas, liquefied propane, petroleum bitumen, liquefied butane, and methanol. The country’s main imports were raw gold, livestock, corn, sunflower seed oil, rice, and soybeans.

 

China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Afghanistan, Oman, and Pakistan were the top destinations for Iran’s exports, while the UAE, China, Turkey, India, Germany, Russia, and the Netherlands were the main import partners during this period.
