Iran’s Nuclear Program Transparent, No Retreat Despite Pressure
WANA (Sep 25) – Iran’s nuclear program is fully transparent and will not be rolled back, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) declared, stressing that five decades of efforts by Iranian nuclear scientists have turned the industry into a leading symbol of scientific and technological progress.
Speaking at the World Nuclear Forum in Moscow on Thursday, Mohammad Eslami, Vice President of Iran and head of the AEOI, said:
“Fifty years of perseverance by Iran’s nuclear experts have transformed this proud industry into a pioneering force in science and technology. Despite relentless obstacles imposed by the U.S. and three European countries, Iran has secured top ranks in technology and industry. Our achievements have always faced hostility — from sanctions, threats, and political pressure to sabotage, assassination, and even military operations.”
Eslami accused the U.S. and its European allies of decades of duplicity, noting that while Iran invested heavily in international nuclear projects in the 1970s, Western companies abandoned their commitments and withheld Iranian assets. He argued that Israel helped manufacture false evidence to create Iran’s nuclear dossier, leading to “maximum pressure” in a failed attempt to halt Tehran’s progress.
“Iran’s nuclear program has no military objectives — and they know it,” Eslami said. “To Washington, London, Paris, and Berlin I say: you cannot subdue the proud Iranian nation. Stop deceiving the world and clinging to hegemonic policies. Our program is fully transparent, and we will not retreat.”
The AEOI chief highlighted the successful completion of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant with Russian cooperation after Germany abandoned the project. The facility, now in its twelfth year of operation, has produced 72 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and received top safety and performance ratings. Units two and three of Bushehr are under construction with Rosatom.
Eslami confirmed that Tehran and Moscow have agreed to expand cooperation on both large nuclear power plants and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), following the directives of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“With our accumulated experience and trust in God, we will continue this honorable path until final victory,” Eslami concluded.
