WANA (Nov 09) – Less than three weeks after setting a new export record, Iran’s oil shipments have surged again. According to the tanker-tracking firm TankerTrackers, Iranian oil exports have risen by another 200,000 barrels per day, reaching nearly 2.3 million barrels per day over the past four weeks — the highest level since the United States withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA).

Oil analyst Homayoun Falakshahi noted in late October that Iran’s oil sales had already reached 2.1 million barrels per day, calling it “a new record” for the country.

This growth comes despite the fact that Iran remains under some of the toughest U.S. sanctions aimed at reducing its oil exports to zero. However, as acknowledged by the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), Iran’s sanctioned tankers continue to operate freely across global shipping routes.

Industry observers view the latest figures as evidence of both Tehran’s ability to circumvent sanctions and China’s growing role as a key destination for Iranian crude.
