WANA (Jun 15) – Ebrahim Rezaei, Speaker of Iran’s National Security Commission, wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account that now is the best time for Iran to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). He emphasized that the NPT was supposed to guarantee Iran’s security, not undermine it.

Another member, Izadkhah, Tehran’s representative also stated that “the minimum necessary action is to exit from the NPT, which is being reviewed in the Parliament. We are even considering exiting from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).”

He added, “If our participation in international treaties and conventions fails to protect our rights and interests, we have no desire to remain bound by them.”

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization posted on its X (formerly Twitter) account: “Iran stands strong. Relying on the dedication of our nuclear scientists, we will continue to powerfully advance peaceful nuclear technology for the Iranian people. The desperate attacks of our enemies cannot withstand the will of this nation.”
