WANA (Feb 07) – Iran’s national football team has drawn up an initial list of 100 players as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Iran’s national football team is scheduled to travel to the United States in June 2026 to compete in Group G of the 2026 World Cup alongside Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand.

Due to time limitations and the process required to obtain U.S. visas, the Iranian Football Federation has, as a first step, received a list from the national team’s coaching staff. The list includes players who may be required to travel to U.S. embassies in countries such as the United Arab Emirates to apply for visas.

According to reports, the national team head coach has submitted the names of all players who have even a small chance of being selected for the World Cup. The list, which contains around 100 players, has been provided to the federation so that initial procedures, including introducing the players to FIFA, can be carried out.

Under FIFA regulations, this list will be reduced to 50 players after the next FIFA international window, at which point Iran’s official preliminary list will be sent to FIFA.

From those 50 players, the final 26-man squad for the World Cup will ultimately be selected.
