Iran’s President: National Unity Is Key to Overcoming Challenges
WANA (Aug 25) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that the country is capable of overcoming its challenges, provided that people join hands, act with awareness, and move forward under the guidance of the Supreme Leader. He stressed that unity and cohesion safeguard the nation against its enemies, warning that any words or actions undermining national unity or relations with neighboring countries amount to treason.
Speaking at a ceremony marking Government Week in Iran, during which cabinet members renewed their pledge to the ideals of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, Pezeshkian noted that the Supreme Leader’s support has placed a heavier responsibility on the government to serve the people more effectively.
“We are capable of solving our problems if we work together, act with awareness, and move under the leadership of the Supreme Leader. Unity and solidarity protect us against our enemies. We must not use public platforms to speak ill of one another. Any word that disrupts national unity or our relations with neighbors is treason. Israel seeks to undermine our unity and the solidarity of Muslims,” he said.
Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran’s neighbors are its brothers, adding: “Someone once asked in the media, ‘Who said these people are our brothers?’ I say we are brothers; our lands and resources are shared. Our neighbors are our kin. It was the powerful states that divided the region and left it in this condition. Muslims must be ‘as one hand.’”
He added that sowing discord inside Iran or among Muslim nations only serves Israel’s interests: “If unity exists, Israel would not dare look at us with hostility.”
The president reiterated his administration’s determination to address challenges as much as possible, once again thanking the Supreme Leader for his recent guidance. He expressed hope that with collective wisdom and cohesion, the government would be able to resolve the nation’s difficulties.
Pezeshkian concluded by stressing that Iran is not dependent on its enemies for survival: “If they try to block our path, it does not mean we cannot live. We must move forward with dignity, pride, and unity, and put aside our differences.”
