WANA (Oct 14) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran today, following anti-Iran remarks by Donald Trump in the Knesset of the Israeli regime, stated that the United States — as the world’s largest producer of terrorism and the backer of the terrorist, genocidal Israeli regime — has no moral standing to level accusations against others. The ministry added: the Iranian people will neither forgive nor forget the brutal crime committed by the United States in the assassination of Martyr Qassem Soleimani.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued the statement today (Tuesday, 22 Mehr) in reaction to remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump in the Knesset.

In his speech to the Israeli parliament, the U.S. president, while referring to an attack on Iran’s safeguarded nuclear facilities and claiming that Iran suffered a devastating blow, said that concluding a peace agreement with the Iranians would be “great.”

We neither forgive nor forget the assassination of Martyr Soleimani

The statement reads: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the baseless accusations and irresponsible, shameful claims made by the U.S. president regarding Iran, which were delivered on Monday in the Knesset of the Zionist regime and in the presence of mass-murderers.”

It continues: “The United States, as the largest generator of terrorism in the world and the supporter of the terrorist and genocidal Zionist regime, has no moral authority to accuse others.”

The statement adds: “The people of Iran, while paying deep respect to Iran’s eternal hero and the region’s martyr, Hajj Qassem Soleimani — who played an unparalleled role in confronting the U.S.-produced ISIS terrorism — will never forgive or forget the brutal crime of the United States in assassinating that great man and his companions.”

The depth of hostility among U.S. policymakers

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized in the statement that repeating false claims about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program in no way justifies the joint crimes of the Israeli and U.S. regimes in violating Iran’s sacred soil and in murdering Iranian citizens.

The statement says: “Boasting about and admitting to crimes and aggression only increases the United States’ responsibility for committing these crimes and reveals the depth of hostility that American policymakers hold toward the great people of Iran.”

The ministry further stated: “The complicity and active participation of the United States in the genocide and warmongering of the Zionist regime in occupied Palestine is obvious to all, and the U.S. must be held accountable for its role in shielding the Israeli regime from punishment — including blocking effective measures against Israel at the UN Security Council and obstructing international judicial processes to prosecute Israeli criminals.”

How can one claim peace and friendship?

The statement adds: “U.S. interventionist policies in the region, support for occupation and the crimes of the genocidal Israeli regime, together with unrestricted arms sales to the region, have made the United States the greatest source of instability and insecurity in the region.”

The Ministry views the U.S. president’s expressed willingness for peace and dialogue as inconsistent with America’s hostile and criminal actions against the Iranian people. “How can one claim peace and friendship while attacking residential areas and peaceful nuclear facilities of a country during political negotiations, killing more than a thousand people — including innocent women and children — and then claim to seek peace?” the statement asks.

The document concludes that Iranians, relying on their rich cultural and historical heritage, are people of reason, dialogue, and engagement, while also acting with courage and resolve to defend the independence, national dignity, and supreme interests of Iran.

Donald Trump on Monday made baseless claims against Iran in the Knesset, saying, “We were able to contain the most dangerous government in the world and completely end its nuclear project. Iran took a devastating hit, and it would be great if we could sign a peace agreement with Iran.”

He added: “I think they are tired. Someone said they are restarting their program. I said they will not start anything; they want to survive — the last thing they want to do is start digging holes again.”

Donald Trump also claimed in Sharm el-Sheikh that if the U.S. had not bombed Iran’s nuclear sites, the Gaza agreement would not have been achieved.
