Iran’s Royan Institute Hosts a Major Scientific and Public Event for World Diabetes Day
WANA (Nov 18) – The Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism Center of Royan Institute will host one of Iran’s prominent scientific and public events within the framework of the global World Diabetes Day programs.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Office of Royan Institute, this event, held simultaneously in over 160 countries and under the strategic guidance of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), will focus this year on “Diabetes and the Workplace”, exploring the emerging dimensions of this global health challenge.
The event will take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 09:30 to 12:00 local time at the Royan Institute Diabetes Clinic in Tehran, and aims to raise public awareness and promote a healthy lifestyle in line with the 2025 global theme: “Know More, Act Better for Diabetes in the Workplace.”
The primary objective of the conference is to provide clear and accessible information about diabetes to all segments of society.
During the program, Royan Institute, with the participation of distinguished researchers, diabetes specialists, and a select group of academic professors, will present the latest diagnostic frameworks, screening protocols for at-risk populations, evidence-based therapeutic strategies, and the correction of misconceptions regarding non-scientific treatments in a manner that is comprehensible and accessible to the general public.
A key segment of the conference is dedicated to advances in diabetes treatment with stem cells. In this section, the latest achievements in cell therapy and associated research pathways will be explained in a clear and understandable manner, enabling participants to grasp the current global progress and the prospective directions of diabetes treatment.
In addition, the program will introduce novel technologies and tools for diabetes management, ranging from new patient-accessible technologies to innovative approaches that improve blood glucose control, all explained in a practical and easily understandable language for the public.
The conference’s primary focus is on the management and control of diabetes, a pathway that Royan Institute has consistently pursued with the aim of public awareness, emphasizing an approach that is not solely research-oriented but also educational and service-focused.
In line with this year’s global theme, which emphasizes “Diabetes in the Workplace” and “Diabetes across the Lifespan”, the event will highlight that diabetes may occur from infancy, childhood, reproductive age, and working years through to older adulthood.
The objective is to ensure that the public understands that, at any stage of life—whether child, worker, or senior—diabetes requires awareness, prevention, and appropriate care.
To further promote health literacy and individual risk assessment, a blood glucose testing station will be available for visitors and participants, staffed by a specialized team to guide individuals with abnormal results.
Moreover, the importance of annual screenings for diabetic patients, including eye examinations, cardiovascular assessments, and comprehensive foot evaluations, will be emphasized.
Beyond its research and clinical dimensions, the event will also host participating students engaged in awareness-raising projects, whose research outputs, artworks, and educational videos focused on diabetes prevention will be showcased to the public.
In conclusion, Dr. Azam Kouhkan, faculty member of Royan Institute and Director of Royan Diabetes Clinic, emphasized that the mission of raising public awareness and promoting health is not limited to calendar observances, and that the Institute’s comprehensive educational programs, workshops, and specialized sessions will continue throughout the year.
