Iran’s Strike on U.S. Al Udeid Base Must Not Be Interpreted as Action Against Qatar
WANA (Jun 24) – The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized that Iran’s defensive action in targeting the American Al Udeid airbase must in no way be interpreted as being directed against the friendly and neighboring country of Qatar. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to its longstanding and cordial relations with Qatar.
In a post on the social platform X, Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, stated:
“Iran’s missile strikes on the American Al Udeid airbase were carried out in exercise of its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, and in response to the U.S. military aggression on June 22, 2025, against Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.”
He stressed that: “This defensive measure must in no way be perceived as being directed at the friendly and neighboring state of Qatar. The Islamic Republic of Iran remains committed to its long-standing and positive relations with that country.”
Baghaei further underlined that Iran has always adhered to the principle of good neighborliness with Qatar and other regional nations:
“We are determined not to allow the aggressive actions and malicious policies of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran to provoke discord and division between us and our brothers in the region.”
