WANA (Aug 09) – Following separate decrees issued by Iran’s Supreme Leader and the President, changes have been made to the leadership structure of the Supreme National Security Council, with Mohsen Rezaei appointed as the Leader’s representative to the council and as the new Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.

 

Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, appointed Mohsen Rezaei as his representative to the Supreme National Security Council in a decree.

 

The decree highlighted Rezaei’s experience and stated: “Considering your valuable experiences, you are hereby appointed as my representative to the Supreme National Security Council. You are among the pioneers of the honorable eight-year Sacred Defense period.”

 

The Supreme Leader also expressed appreciation for the efforts of Mohammad Bagher Zolqadr during his tenure at the Supreme National Security Council and wished him success in his new position.

 

In a separate decree, Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei appointed Mohammad Bagher Zolqadr as his political adviser.

 

The decree stated that, in view of Zolqadr’s valuable experience, he has been appointed as political adviser to the Supreme Leader to assist in advancing the goals and objectives of the Islamic Republic.

 

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian appointed Mohsen Rezaei as Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.

 

Tabatabaei, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Communications and Information, announced that the appointment followed Mohammad Bagher Zolqadr’s resignation from the position of Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council and his acceptance of a new responsibility.

 

Mohsen Rezaei has previously served as Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council, and Vice President for Economic Affairs.
