Iran’s Supreme Leader: Enemy Seeking Division Inside Iran After Military Defeats
WANA (May 28) – Iran’s Supreme Leader, Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, warned in a message marking the anniversary of the opening of Iran’s first parliament and the start of the third year of the current parliament that Iran’s enemies are now seeking to create division and social fragmentation inside the country after suffering what he described as “military defeats.”
Ayatollah Khamenei said in the message: “The enemy’s blind plan — after imposed war, economic pressure, and political and media siege — is to create division and social fragmentation in order to compensate for its defeats on the military battlefield and bring the Iranian nation to its knees.”
He also stressed the importance of preserving national unity, saying: “All those who care about Islam, the Revolution, or Iran’s independence and dignity must work more than ever to safeguard national unity and not turn justified or unjustified differences into conflict and division.”
In another part of the message, Iran’s Supreme Leader referred to a “post-war period” and called on parliament and the government to focus on reconstruction and economic issues. He said lawmakers should prioritize “economic stability, reducing inflation, managing liquidity, boosting production, revising the Seventh Development Plan, and adding provisions related to rebuilding and reconstruction after the second and third imposed wars.”
Ayatollah Khamenei also referred to what he called Iran’s “new position in the region and the world,” urging lawmakers to pay attention to “parliamentary diplomacy” and take “clear and strong positions” against what he described as “the excessive demands of arrogant powers.”
In the message, Iran’s parliament was described as “the embodiment of the nation” and a key pillar of legislation in the Islamic Republic. The message also stressed coordination among branches of government to address economic challenges, control inflation, fight corruption, support production, and reduce deprivation.
Iran’s Supreme Leader further said society needs “real signs of hope, a stable path, and a clear vision for the future,” adding that parliament could serve as a “driving force for creating hope.”
