WANA (Jun 04) – Iran’s Supreme Leader emphasized that “The first word of the United States is that Iran should not have a nuclear industry and should remain dependent on America. Our response to such nonsense from the U.S. is clear: they can’t do a damn thing about it.”

He emphasized that uranium enrichment is the key to the nuclear issue and criticized U.S. interference: “Why are you meddling in whether Iran enriches uranium or not? What business is it of yours? Who are you to decide?”

The Leader explained that Iran has now achieved a full nuclear fuel cycle through intense domestic effort. Highlighting the broader value of the nuclear industry, he said, “Nuclear technology is not just for energy. It is a mother industry that impacts numerous scientific fields.”

He also referred to past U.S. unreliability during negotiations over 20% fuel in the 2000s, reiterating Iran’s right to self-reliance: “One pillar of national independence is the principle of ‘We Can,’ and the American plan is 100 percent against this principle.”

“If we have a hundred power plants but do not have enrichment, it is of no use to us; Because a nuclear power plant needs fuel, and if we cannot produce this fuel domestically, we must reach out to the US, and they may put dozens of conditions on giving nuclear fuel. We have tried this before,” Supreme Leader of Iran stated.

He added that Iran will continue to strengthen its comprehensive national power as much as possible.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, marking the 36th anniversary of the passing of Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, delivered this speech this morning at the mausoleum of the late Imam with the presence of Iranian officials, state authorities, military and civilian figures, and a large gathering of mourning citizens.

Supreme Leader Condemns Israeli Aggression and U.S. Complicity

Turning to the situation in Palestine, the Leader denounced the Israeli regime’s ongoing violence and the United States’ support for it. “It would have been expensive for them to kill people; they made it easy.. They used bombs before; Now they are using bullets. This is unusual—How vile, petty, and wicked one can be!” he said. “America is complicit in these crimes and must be expelled from the region.”

He called on Muslim governments to take a clear stance: “Today is not the time for neutrality or appeasement. If any Islamic government supports the Zionist regime in any form, they must know they will bear eternal disgrace.”

He added, “No state can achieve security by relying on Israel. According to God’s decisive decree, the Zionist regime is collapsing—and its fall is not far off, God willing.”

Revolutionary Legacy and National Strength Highlighted

The Supreme Leader opened his remarks by honoring the late Imam Khomeini, describing him as a figure whose revolutionary impact continues to shape global dynamics more than three decades after his passing. He said the decline of U.S. influence and the global rise in “anti-Zionist” sentiment are direct results of Imam Khomeini’s revolution.

He noted that the Islamic Revolution caught the West off guard: “They never imagined a lone cleric without arms or wealth could mobilize an entire nation.” Even after the revolution, he said, Western powers hoped a pro-Western regime might take control, but Imam Khomeini firmly set the nation on an independent, Islamic path.

Praising the resilience of the Islamic Republic, he stated that Iran had withstood and countered “over a thousand” plots and hostile actions. “No revolution from the well-known revolutions has faced such intense and persistent conspiracies,” he said.

He also warned of the dangers of emotional upheaval derailing revolutionary goals, citing the French Revolution as an example. “Imam preserved the Islamic Revolution from the destructive wave of emotion with rationality and clarity of vision,” he said. “His rationality was reflected in two pillars: the principle of Velayat-e Faqih and national independence.”

He elaborated on the principle of national independence, saying it does not mean cutting off global ties, but rather that Iran must stand on its own feet and not wait for a green or red light from powers like the United States. “A key chapter of national independence is the principle of ‘We Can,’ and the U.S. nuclear plan is entirely opposed to it,” he said.

“Resistance,” he added, “means not bowing to the will of major powers. If you believe in something, see it as necessary or forbidden, you act based on your own conviction, not on the enemy’s imposition.”

He further noted that boosting Iran’s defensive capabilities is another essential pillar of national independence.

Final Prayers and Message to Youth

After his speech, the Supreme Leader urged Iranian youth to take advantage of the spiritual opportunity presented by the Day of Arafah, calling it the “springtime of prayer.”

He also ended with a heartfelt supplication: “O Lord, fulfill the great goals of Imam Khomeini among the people of Iran.”

Imam Khomeini’s Legacy and Passing

Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, passed away on June 3, 1989, at the age of 86. Revered as the leader of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, Khomeini led a popular uprising that overthrew the Western-backed monarchy and established a new political system based on Islamic governance.

He was known for his strong anti-Western stance, particularly toward the United States, which he often referred to as the “Great Satan.” His political philosophy and leadership left a lasting imprint on Iran’s domestic and foreign policies.

Following Khomeini’s death, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was appointed as his successor by the Assembly of Experts. Khamenei, who had served as president of Iran from 1981 to 1989, assumed the position of Supreme Leader—the highest authority in the Islamic Republic.
