WANA (Aug 02) – Iran’s under-16 girls’ basketball team made history by defeating Lebanon 41–38 in the final of the West Asia Championship, clinching the title for the first time.

 

In addition to the regional title, the Iranian basketball team also earned qualification for the FIBA U16 Women’s Asia Cup, marking the country’s first-ever participation in this continental event.

 

Earlier in the tournament, Iran had lost to Lebanon 47–37 in the final match of the group stage, but had secured victories over Jordan and Syria to reach the final.

 

Iran’s Para-Taekwondo Team Clinches 10th Straight Asian Title

Meanwhile, Iran’s national para-taekwondo team secured its tenth consecutive Asian Championship title, winning a total of 12 medals — three gold, three silver, and six bronze.

 

The competition was held on Friday in Kuching, Malaysia, with the participation of 107 athletes from 18 countries.

 

Having dominated all previous editions of the event, Iran successfully defended its championship streak with another strong performance.
