WANA (Mar 02) – Following the U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran and the assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations declared that the hostile U.S. government’s dream of swallowing the Islamic Republic of Iran and forcing it into submission will never be realised.

In a statement issued Sunday local time regarding the assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei, the Mission said: “The cowardly assassination of this great leader will turn him into an eternal legend in the history of Iran and Islam.”

The Mission emphasised that the raised banner of justice, freedom-seeking, dignity, patriotism, and moral commitment upheld by this beloved and distinguished leader will undoubtedly never fall.

It further stressed: “The dream of the hostile U.S. government to swallow the Islamic Republic of Iran and force it to surrender will never come true. This war, more than a contest of military equipment and advanced technologies, is a battle of wills — and in this struggle, Iran will prevail.”

Referring to the killing of more than 150 schoolgirls in the wake of the U.S. and Israeli attack, the Mission stated that over 150 female students in the southern Iranian city of Minab were killed during what it described as the war waged by the United States and Israel.

The Iranian Mission to the UN added: “How exactly were children whose feet did not even reach the floor behind their school desks an imminent threat to the United States and the accursed Zionist regime of Israel?”

It noted that while the Islamic Republic of Iran had entered into serious negotiations with the United States, on the morning of February 28, 2026, the United States and the Israeli regime — as in the previous round — attacked Iranian territory without regard for the talks, striking multiple locations in different cities.

The U.S. President, in a video posted on the social media platform Truth Social — which appeared to have been prepared in advance — announced: “We have launched extensive military strikes against Iran.” The U.S. Department of Defence reportedly named the operation “Operation Epic Fury.” In justifying the attacks, he claimed that the U.S. military was conducting a massive and ongoing operation to eliminate threats to America and its core national security interests.

The renewed Washington–Tel Aviv aggression, carried out while the Islamic Republic of Iran had taken negotiations with the United States as a step toward transparency regarding the peaceful nature of its nuclear activities, was described as reflecting a repetitive yet deceptive pattern of American diplomacy in international relations.

Following these attacks, Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, was assassinated.

The Public Relations Office of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also announced that “the most intense offensive operation in the history of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will commence within moments toward the occupied territories and the bases of American terrorists.”
