Iran’s UN Mission: Trump Seeks to Drag Region Into Endless War
WANA (Apr 05) – Iran’s mission to the United Nations in New York has responded to threats by U.S. President Donald Trump to target Iranian infrastructure, stating that he is seeking to push the region into an “endless war.”
In a message posted on X, the Iranian mission said the U.S. president had once again openly threatened to destroy infrastructure essential for civilian survival in Iran.
Referring to Trump’s statement that “Tuesday will be power plant day and bridge day. All wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!!”, the mission said that if the United Nations had a functioning conscience, it would not remain silent in the face of what it described as a “blatant and shameless threat” to target civilian infrastructure.
The statement added that such remarks constitute a direct and public incitement to terrorize civilians and represent clear evidence of intent to commit a war crime. It called on the international community and all countries to fulfill their legal obligations to prevent such actions, warning that delay could have serious consequences.
Earlier, Iran’s First Vice President responded to recent remarks by Donald Trump regarding the destruction of Iran’s infrastructure, describing them as a sign of contradiction in U.S. domestic and foreign policies.
Referring to Trump’s statements, he noted that Trump had spoken about his inability to meet the basic needs of the American people, such as “childcare and healthcare,” while simultaneously threatening Iran with the destruction of “power plants and bridges.”
The First Vice President added that anyone who sacrifices the welfare of their own people in order to threaten others remains “stuck in the Stone Age.” He emphasized that Iran, in contrast, has chosen a different path—focusing on development and construction, even under pressure.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran’s parliament speaker, also reacted to Trump’s threat on X: “Your reckless moves are dragging the United States into a living HELL for every single family, and our whole region is going to burn because you insist on following Netanyahu’s commands.”
He added, “Make no mistake: You won’t gain anything through war crimes. The only real solution is respecting the rights of the Iranian people and ending this dangerous game.”
