WANA (Oct 30) – Iran’s women’s futsal team claimed the championship title at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain after defeating China in a dramatic penalty shootout.

 

The competition reached its final day with Iran facing China for the gold medal. Team Iran, having advanced to the final after a victory over Chinese Taipei, needed to overcome China to secure the championship.

 

Head coach Fatemeh Sharif started the match with Fatemeh Shekarani, Niyayesh Rahmani, Tanaz Bagheri, Hadis Yari, and Narges Amir Mohseni in the main lineup.

 

The match ended in a goalless draw during regular time, pushing the contest to penalty kicks to determine the champion. In the shootout, Iran triumphed 3–2, earning the gold medal and the championship title, while China settled for the silver medal.

 

In the third-place match, Chinese Taipei defeated Hong Kong 6–1 to secure the bronze medal.
