WANA (Oct 10) – According to the Public Relations Department of the National Paralympic Committee and the Federation for the Sports of the Disabled, Iran’s young para powerlifter Atieh Sadat Hosseini claimed the gold medal in the 61 kg category on the second day of the 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships (Youth Division).

Hosseini successfully lifted a total of 175 kilograms across her three attempts, earning the world championship title and securing Iran’s second gold medal in the women’s division at this year’s competition.

Earlier, Hosseini had already made history by winning Iran’s first-ever women’s gold medal in world para powerlifting — a groundbreaking achievement for Iranian women’s sports.

The youth championships are being held on October 8 and 9 (17th–18th of Mehr) for the first time over two consecutive days, featuring 124 athletes from 28 National Paralympic Committees competing for top honors.
