Iran’s Youth Para Powerlifting Team Wins 8 Golds in Cairo
WANA (Oct 11) – The World Para Powerlifting Championships for youth and adult categories are currently underway in Cairo, Egypt, where Iran’s youth team concluded its participation with an impressive eight gold medals and one silver.
The competition, which includes both men’s and women’s divisions, will continue until October 18. In the youth category, a total of 124 athletes—88 men and 36 women—are competing. Uzbekistan, with 26 participants, tops the list of countries in this division, followed by Egypt with 21, while Iran and Armenia, each with eight athletes, share third place in terms of participation.
At the conclusion of the youth events, Iranian athletes delivered a stellar performance:
- Atieh Sadat Hosseini, in the 61 kg category, won two gold medals — one in her main lift and another for her total of 175 kg.
- Mani Saeedi, competing in the 88 kg category, earned another gold medal for Iran.
- Reza Enayatollahi, in the 97 kg class, claimed two golds, one in his event and another for his total lift of 383 kg.
- Hassan Mohammad Hosseinpour, competing in the 80 kg division, won a gold medal, and with a total lift of 303 kg, also took silver in the overall standings.
- Amirali Es-haqnia, in the +107 kg category, lifted 171 kg to secure gold, and with a combined total of 336 kg, earned another gold, bringing Iran’s total to eight golds and one silver.
With this achievement, Iran’s youth para powerlifting team wrapped up its campaign at the World Championships in Cairo with eight gold medals and one silver, marking an outstanding performance on the global stage.
The adult division of the championships begins today (Saturday, October 11) in Cairo, featuring 542 athletes from 71 National Paralympic Committees.
