WANA (Sep 30) – Iraq’s National Security Adviser Qasim al-Araji on Tuesday pledged that Baghdad will take all necessary measures to prevent any future violations of its airspace by Israel.

Al-Araji made the remarks during a meeting in Baghdad with Majid Mir Ahmadi, head of intelligence for Iran’s Armed Forces, and his accompanying delegation.

According to a statement from the Iraqi National Security Adviser’s office, the two sides discussed regional security challenges, threats, and issues of mutual concern. Both parties also stressed the importance of fully implementing the bilateral security agreement to safeguard stability and security.

“The position of the Republic of Iraq is clear and firm: we will not allow Iraqi territory to be used as a platform for aggression against neighboring countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran,” al-Araji stated.

He added that Iraq has submitted a formal complaint to the UN Security Council against Israel, citing the use of Iraqi airspace during an attack on Iran.

Al-Araji reaffirmed that under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Iraq will take every necessary measure to prevent the recurrence of such violations.
