‘Iraqi initiative for Saudi-Iran mediation comes from Martyr Soleimani’s strategic view’
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has said that Iraq’s initiative to mediate between Saudi Arabia and Iran has its roots in Martyr General Qassem Soleimani’s strategic viewpoint.
Kanaani wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday: Lieutenant General Soleimani was not only a champion in fighting terrorism and security protector of the region, he was also general and architect of peace, reconciliation and brotherhood among Islamic nations and states.
He went on to mention: Martyr Soleimani knew the original enemy and he looked at distant horizons.
So, the initiative of Iraqi mediation between Saudi Arabia and Iran came from Martyr Soleimani’s strategic point of view, he argued.
Saudi Arabia and Iran have reached an agreement to resume diplomatic ties, which was severed from 2016. Following some rounds of talks in Baghdad, they signed the agreement in Beijing, China, on March 11.
