WANA (Sep 30) – Abu Reza al-Anzi, commander of the “Jund al-Imam” brigades within Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces, stressed that the country’s resistance is capable of inflicting damage on Israel — a reality that, he said, has led to anxiety and threats from the Israeli prime minister.

Benjamin Netanyahu, during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, amid protests by a number of world leaders over Israel’s actions in Gaza, began his speech by making accusations against Iran and regional resistance groups. He went on to directly threaten the resistance groups in Iraq, vowing to target them.

This threat drew a response from Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, who stated: “Any attack on an Iraqi citizen will be considered an attack on all of Iraq.”

In a subsequent interview, Abu Reza al-Anzi addressed questions about Netanyahu’s threats and the position of Iraq’s resistance.

– Why did Netanyahu threaten the Iraqi resistance?

“Following the Al-Aqsa Flood battle and the events thereafter, the Iraqi resistance developed its capabilities and rebuilt itself. The resistance now has the ability to harm the Zionist regime, and that is why Netanyahu has become afraid and resorted to threatening the resistance groups in Iraq.”

– Will these threats and allegations isolate the Iraqi resistance?

“The Iraqi resistance may face some challenges or pressures, but its high morale and firm determination will enable it to overcome even the harshest circumstances, and it will never become cornered or isolated. Threatening the Iraqi resistance groups by Netanyahu, who is the prime minister of the most brutal and dictatorial regime in the world, appears completely natural.”

– What is the official stance of the Iraqi people and resistance groups toward these threats?

“Those politicians known for their loyalty to the resistance and the axis of resistance have taken a decisive stance. On the other hand, there are also politicians who welcome these developments and wish for the downfall of this blessed front. This situation reveals who truly stands with the resistance and who rejoices in its potential defeat.”

– What deterrence has the Iraqi resistance created for the country?

“The strength of the resistance stems from the people and their deep conviction in the need to confront injustice and tyranny. The proud people of Iraq, especially the free people of the south, have throughout history proven themselves symbols of honor, determination, and struggle. They stood against the tyrant Saddam and his criminal clique and created heroic epics. Today, the resistance draws on this unbroken legacy of struggle and perseverance to reinforce its will.”

– How do you view the future of the Iraqi resistance following these threats?

“To answer this question about the future of the Iraqi resistance after Netanyahu’s worthless threats, I recall the words of the jihadi commander and source of inspiration for the free and the resistance, Haj Qassem Soleimani, who said: ‘Certainly, everything will be fine.’”
